The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

for the size and complexity of being the Berkshire CEO I believe he needs to be paid. $20m -$30m is chump change for the challenges of the job.

Opinions may differ on that.
In my view nobody is worth that much for their day job efforts.
But I agree that that is not an uncommon amount in the US in this era, unfortunately.

Would a person hired to do the job be doing a better job at $30m than they would for $20m or $10m? No, of course not.
Given that the country has hundreds of millions of people, I think one could generally find someone else just as competent to do it for less.
You wouldn't know for sure in advance if they would do really well, but that's also true of whoever is the first pick.

Median FTSE 100 salary is around 3.9 million pounds, not counting pensions.
