Yeah, in the last earnings conference call, one of Upstart's managers mentioned that they had continued to sell bundles of loans on the secondary market last year and they fully expected that to continue in the near future, so this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Still, a $193 million securitization of loans on the book will make a big dent in the loans on the book and will greatly improve their liquidity.
With short term interest rates leveling out, the value of the loans on the books will stabilize and will have a better market for resale in a bundle, both of which are great news for Upstart. Hopefully this recent sale already benefited from this change in interest rate trends.
