We are in Toronto right now, having just watched a local news show on this. There was some scornful amusement over the hockey sticks, which are apparently made in China and rebranded here, prompting a comment that "one should really make sure a product is actually sourced here before applying a tariff on it," as well as speculation about how to use the exclusions list against the US by putting economic measures on those exports, such as potash. My sense is that Canada is likely to simply irritate Trump as little as possible, while they continue to set up alternative trade partners that eliminates the unpredictable nature of the US. Once set up, it will be very difficult to re-establish trade on beneficial terms. We are screwing ourselves over and over again in a lasting way.

Toronto is absolutely fabulous BTW, as long as our car stays in the garage below the condo. Smoke from the fire has been interesting, but the PATH is very useful to avoid exposure. Loving all the shows, museums and restaurants.
