How about fentanyl? I don't understand why it is so hard to euthanize these people. Not that I support the death penalty. Life in prison without parole should be the maximum punishment.

Most of us have been anesthetized. No suffering. And if you don't wake up from the anesthesia you will have died painlessly. If the object is to kill the condemned without 'cruel and unusual' punishment, it should be easy to do.

The problem will still be the viability of the IV line, and the freshness of the drug. IV fentanyl still has that problem. But I suppose you can also take fentanyl by mouth. Would that work any better? You'd still have to get the condemned person to consume it though. But there are also fentanyl patches. Hmm...

I'd think the best bet has got to be some combination of an effective anesthetic gas - laughing gas? - followed by another gas that end life painlessly. Can fentanyl be aerosolized and inhaled?

But I'm sure this has been debated in depth by medical doctors who know what they're talking about.
