I actually preferred Vivek but pragmatically he was just too new, too little name recognition, to have much of a chance. Desantis was my second choice, along the theory of getting mostly MAGA policies without the Trump drama. But I am happy with Trump. Desantis and Vivek will get their turn. The Republicans have a young and strong bench.

Yep! The GOP has a number of high-name recognition pols with executive experience. How many people have heard of any democrat governors outside of Hochul and Newsom? And how many people think they're doing an amazing job? Pretty much no one.

You made a comment upthread about GOP voters and nuanced choices. The GOP primary, both this time and last time featured a diverse slate of candidates who...didn't agree on everything - many had vastly different approaches to problems. When was the last time you would see that on the democrat side of the field? The answer is, decades. Ideologically they all agree on the same things with the same rewarmed proggie ideals. The only difference is the degree to which they'd implement their "ideas" and how far down the toilet the nation would be flushed.
