From the PickTrader thread
The S&P 500 index showed knees at about the same times, with growth rates of 1.4%/yr, 13.0%/yr and 5.3%/yr during the periods 1965-1981, 1981-1999 and 1999-2020 respectively.
Knees in what quantity, please?

The later knee in the plot of log(BRKbook) versus time occurred around end of 1998 i.e. about time of the GenRe acquisition. I wondered if that was the start of a structural change in BRK, or given the comment above, if this knee was reflecting BRK's participation in general market conditions.
