Lenawee County MI, where I live, went 60.7% for Trump on 2024.

The county is rural and sits on the Ohio line. Ann Arbor is 20 miles away, but might as well be a hundred.

The closest town to our house is Tecumseh- a little berg settled in the 1830s by farmers who came west from New York State on the newly opened Erie Canal, then traveled the length of Lake Erie before heading overland for a few days to the present location of the town.

Lots of towns in the area were settled about the same time by the same type of folks who traveled the same way to get here.

Fast forward.... a couple of days ago, I drove into town for a few items at the grocery.... past all of the American flags in front of businesses, homes and lining the street on the three blocks of “downtown”.

Coming out of the grocery, I got in my car and was turning my ignition key when I saw it.

There, in the parking space directly in front of me- a bumper sticker on a grey sedan that carried the question I never thought I’d ever see asked in Trump Country: “Is he dead yet?”
