I'm conducting a mini project, which I will continually add to this thread..don't know if my methodology is correct, looking for constructive input
I am going to compare the performance of Berkshire shares vs. the SPX on the months where repurchases were large, preferably over $2B in a particular month. To start this off, though, I picked November of 2019- Berkshire repurchased $1.2B of stock that month, price to known book was 1.35x.
Month end price of Berkshire B 220.30
Month end price of SPY 314.31
Average annual return of Berkshire/SPY: 13.98%/16.07%
I will do a bunch more of these, obviously, now that we're at all time highs in the SPY (basically) this will be hard for Berkshire to beat
