I forgot to mention that Precision Castparts, besides being a leader in the Aerospace market, is a primary supplier to the industrial gas turbine market (think GE Vernova, Siemens, Mitsubishi Heavy). I am told that backlogs are long for new gas turbine power generation equipment.

Berkshire may have overpaid for PCC at the time, but you only have to buy a company once (when you pay cash, at least) and owning a very large world-class manufacturer with high barriers to competition can end up working out "in the long run."
