The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Don't think Keir Starmer is going to be in this job for much longer. Labour is being obliterated in local UK elections:

politico.eu - UK elections live updates

Prime Minister Keir Starmer insists he’s sticking around but he’s already facing substantial losses as results from Britain’s biggest set of elections since 2024 pour in.

With counting still underway, Starmer’s Labour has shed more than 500 councillors in England, with Nigel Farage’s populist-right Reform UK the main beneficiary. Starmer — facing major questions over his leadership — has told reporters he won’t “walk away and plunge the country into chaos.” He’s braced for more pain in Wales imminently.

Reform has added more than 700 councillors to its tally — with the left-wing Greens and centrist Liberal Democrats also making modest gains. So far it’s been a rough night for the center-right Conservatives, who have shed scores of councillors, although can point to some brighter spots in London.

In play are more than 5,000 English councilors in 136 councils, including all 32 London boroughs; six mayors in England; all 129 members of the Scottish Parliament; plus all 96 members of an expanded Welsh parliament, the Senedd.

It seems the Muslim immigrant vote that Labour was so desperately courting voted for the Greens and Independent parties. Whoops.

Who knew that attempting to describe the Union Jack as a piece of hate imagery would offend the normies so much?
