Trump's motive is to send more water to the largest corporate ag companies in western states that export water intensive crops. Cotton/rice/almonds/alfalfa.

Californians understand that we simply do not have enough water to sustain export ag growth without wiping out the native species that depend on cool flows to migrate and spawn.

The smelt is a canary in the coal mine; an indicator species.

Why does Trump care about Big Ag? Big Ag is conservative. Farmers with G35 jets and corporate lobbyists. They pump money into his coffers, same as big oil and now, big tech.

Trump didn't give a shit about small family farms getting destroyed by his 1st term tarrifs. He didn't give a shit about the record bankruptcies and suicide rates of small farmers.

Big Ag gas destroyed the central valley aquifers. Land subsidence is bottoming out and the aquifers are not replenishing.

It's all about big ag and support money for big orange.
