The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

nteresting idea. The debate could be a mess, though. Reps have successfully framed taxes as "theft", and such. The debate would be "they have to raise you taxes! you don't want higher taxes! we'll push a tax cut for you!". Dems would have to get people to understand it's not how much you pay, but what you get for your money. That flies in the face of the decades of propaganda "taxes are bad, government is bad".

So I'm not sure you could jump straight into the deep end like that. I think you would have to nudge people along.

REPUBLICANS would also paint AOC as an extreme Socialist----her primary opponent would too -- until she won a few times.

Democrats woudl call Trump a rapist, a thief, a convicted felon---but he can win too.

If you aren't willing to have the debate.

If you aren't willing to put Republicans on record on YOUR issues---and then fight them on YOUR issues in 2030....

Well the best you'll get is a 52% win and you guys will kiss a new Manchin's butt for 4 years.

I'd love for the 2030 GOP nominee to explain why higher ACA plan costs are good for millions in swing states. I'd love for the 2030 GOP nominee to explain why people are better off without MediCare for all and why their Social Security age must rise, and their benefit must be cut.

But hey, I like to win ----and then govern,
