The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Just a note on all of those gender studies graduates:

In 2023, which could be argued was during Biden’s term and thus an encouraging environment for gender studies:

A 2023 report indicates that there were 6,365 bachelor's degrees awarded in the "Cultural & Gender Studies" category, according to X.

Double that figure, just to be safe, so now we’re up to 12,730- and round that up to 13,000.

There were 3.9 million people who graduated from colleges and universities.

Gender studies graduates represent one third of 1% of the people who graduated in 2023.

A rounding error. A minuscule problem. If the problem was 10 times larger than it actually is, that figure would still be only 3.3% and if it was 10 times that figure, then you might have a point

But that’s the sort of thing FOXNews and Republicans latch onto in order to justify their attack on colleges and universities. One third of one percent of college graduates graduate with degrees in gender studies, and yet to hear FOXNews and Republicans talk about it, our colleges are awash in gender studiies, producing hordes of gender studies graduates who can’t get real jobs.

In my day, the same argument was jokingly advanced about “basketweaving”
