The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Another horribly planned adventure by Israel's mule America.

There is an op/ed piece, stashed behind the NYT's paywall, titled "A War For One Man".

The thrust of the article is the same as has been proposed on this board: that Israel does not want a negotiated settlement with Iran. Israel wants Iran tipped into failed state perpetual civil war.

from the net sifter, based on the article:

Based on reporting from The New York Times and related analysis in March 2026, Israeli officials and analysts have increasingly viewed a collapsed or failed state in Iran as a preferable outcome—or a "win"—to the alternatives of a nuclear-armed Iran or the survival of the current regime.

Failed State as Strategic Goal: Analysts have noted that for Israeli hardliners, bringing about a "total societal collapse" and "internal fragmentation" in Iran is seen as a way to remove the threat it poses to Israel, even if it leads to regional instability.

"Problem to be Managed": A New York Times opinion piece stated that a "prolonged period of chaos and bloodshed in Iran could be cast in Jerusalem not as a tragedy that might have been prevented but as a problem to be managed from afar".

Failed Uprising Strategy: The New York Times reported that Israel had specifically planned to ignite a mass uprising inside Iran in early 2026 by targeting internal security services, hoping that a weakened regime would fall.

Current Situation (March 2026): According to NYT reporting as of March 22-23, 2026, while the Iranian government was considered "weakened" after weeks of war, it remained intact, and the anticipated widespread rebellion did not materialize.

Division on Ending the War: Although some Israeli officials aimed to continue the war to further disrupt Iran, others raised concerns about the costs and the failure of the strategy to produce a rapid regime collapse.

As proposed on this board, the failed state would be kept in perpetual chaos by Mossad and CIA agents in country, constantly agitating the factions against each-other. The nation of 90M people, once wealthy and advanced. would be reduced to people wearing rags chasing each-other through the rubble with rifles, and, thus, incapable of obstructing the "greater Israel" project.
