The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Been a shareholder since 1994.
Been on this board forever.
I'm not someone that has been jumping up and down with excitement about BRK forever.
But I'm wildly bullish now.
I think in broad, general terms (not counting past 2 weeks)the sentiment around Berkshire is as washed out as it can be.
Mainly due to WEB's step down, AI excitement, and the chance to triple your money or more in under a year in the high flyers.
Who wants to invest their money in slow moving company of old economy assets and a bunch of cash?
Not very exciting in today's gambling economy.
I see Abel as the catalyst here.
He did NOT take this company over to grow it 8 percent a year.
He has underperforming assets, $400 Billion in cash, and $50 Billion more coming in each year.
A CEO's wet dream.
Abel doesn't need to be perfect but he DOES need to do something.
A lot of things.
We all know Berkshire's acquisitions were far from perfect and took years to work themselves out.
Think Gen Re, BNSF, PCP, Pilot, etc.
We need to put our money to work or return it.
History will show that we were all lulled to sleep over the past 15 years.
As brilliant and unmatched as WEB is, it was a grave mistake not buying back stock at lower valuations.
I fully expect to see at least one $5-10 Billion dollar deal announced each and every quarter.
That will be needed to Make Berkshire Compound Again.
If the deals steadily continue, the earnings continue to improve, and stock gets bought back below IV, the perception on Wall Street can completely shift.
Add in an AI bust/correction, and a renewed interest in "HALO" stocks (High Asset, Low Obsolesence)and suddenly we could be looking at a much higher price/book ratio.
To me, this is an incredible asymmetric investment opportunity.
You have Berkshire buying with both hands under 750k, washed out sentiment, a new CEO, 40 years of inefficient operations, and shareholders that are mainly in it for the long haul and not looking to sell.
So unlimited future upside and limited downside.
And what I find most encouraging is that we have seen several other Trillion dollar companies multiply in value in very short periods of time, something that we have been told every day is "impossible" due to the law of large numbers.
I'm, sticking with a prediction of $2,000,000 a share by July 1, 2031.
And before you think that's too crazy, ask yourself one question....what do you think Abel's goal is?
I would be shocked if it's not more.
