The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

HD can make no such demand since they are a tenant just like the other tenants who share the parking lot.

Home Depot owns about 90% of the land below their stores. The only ones they don’t own are those where there is no suitable land available for them to buy and they are forced to rent. As such, they are responsible for what goes on in the parking lots. (Former HD investor here. You could look it up! <—-Yogi)

The honchos at corporate care not one whit.

Really? You think the lunch counter protests by blacks didn’t cause Kresges and Woolwoorths change their store policies?

The reality is that protests always inconvenience somebody . If it doesn’t, nobody notices. The best one I heard about - which never happened because it worked before they had to do it - was prior to the 1968 Democratic Convention when the NAACP was unhappy with things going on in Mayor Daley’s office. They leaked (pun intended) their plans to have hundreds of male members come to O’Hare and stand in front of urinals. And stand. And stand.

Of course this would cause chaos just as the conventioneers were arriving and was perfectly legal. There was/is no law saying how long you can stand while taking a whizz. Daley’s office quickly came to the table, settled the grievance, and all was well.

Ah, the golden (pun intended, again) age of protest.
