Yes, and didn't run Germany until much later...long after the Cold War. Did Germany begin to de-industrialize in 1971 or was that more recent?

Reality is much more nuanced than that. Take Italians that generally have well integrated into German society - despite challenging circumstances.

Do these Italians share a religion with the Germans? How about family structure, power distance, uncertainty avoidance and long term vs. short term orientation? Yes, it's nuanced. Europe was more a collection of feudal tribal entities for centuries before coalescing around its present nation-state structures, some not until the 19th century (especially Germany).

You'll find that many Italians - the ones settling in Germany - do in fact check many of those boxes making assimilation much easier.

Does that hold true for a bunch of Afghans, Syrians or Sudanese? Or how about over in France - how have the Algerians fared there over the years?

Overall, the JCs / moneyed business interests have been the more forceful driver for immigration than 'leftism', although that is not always obvious in public debate. Brexit is just one example - the leave campaign clamoured 'take back control', 'stop immigration' - once decided and enacted, conservative governments opened the floodgates, triggering record immigrant numbers never seen before Brexit.

Reality is much more nuanced that that. Successive Tory governments either implemented or expanded Labour-leaning policies favoring mass migration; the reason why Nigel Farage and Reform are a thing at all is because the Conservatives essentially became Labour-lite and ignored their own voters. The right has rejected Davos-inspired policies such as Global Orders and unregulated free trade. The right has never embraced and in fact has vehemently opposed unchecked, mass migration.

I grant you that WEF/Davos are a collection of the uber-wealthy "elites" who are believers in how much money they can accumulate over all else. What makes them a bunch of wannabe Bond villains is how little they care about anyone else as they pursue their worldviews and how Moonraker-esque their utopian schemes are.
