By the way, I knew this 5 minutes into the debate. It does not matter “if he got better at the end”, by then minds were made up - or rather “confirmed” as to the Right Wing lie that they’ve been spinning for the past year. “He’s old! He’s feeble! He drools!” If you already believed it, it was confirmed. If you were in the middle, it was confirmed. Only die hards are going to say “Well, I’ll go down with the ship.”
When a pitcher is struggling you replace the pitcher, you don’t say “Well, he was fine for the first 2 innings.” It’s not pleasant, and it might not work, but it’s better than burying your head in the sand.
