With the midterms less than a dozen weeks away, Federal Election Commission disclosures show that the Democratic National Committee had about $16 million of cash on hand at the end of July compared with the Republican National Committee’s $130 million.
What does that have to do with Citizens United? That decision didn't affect the limits on contributions to the Democratic or Republican National Committees, which remain in place. It seems more likely that Democratic donors are choosing to send their money to different entities other than the DNC to a greater degree than on the GOP side, which is consistent with at least 30K feet reviews of dissatisfaction with (and within) the DNC.
