The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Interesting tidbit from Joe Kent today.

As has been posted before, Turkey is Israel's next target, after the US helps wreck Iran.

That would be a problem, because Israel would want the US to do the heavy lifting against Turkey, but both the US and Turkey are members of NATO.

Here's a report on what Kent said.

US may leave NATO to support Israel against Türkiye in Syria, says former intel chief Kent

Former U.S. National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent said Thursday that leaving NATO would not be about avoiding foreign entanglements but about siding with Israel in a potential future clash with Türkiye in Syria.

"Unfortunately, leaving NATO won't be to avoid foreign entanglements, we'll be leaving NATO so we can side with Israel when Türkiye & Israel eventually clash in Syria," Kent wrote.

He added, "This is after we helped topple the secular Syrian government and installed a former AQ/ISIS leader as president. Time to stop playing arsonist and fireman in the Middle East, it's just not worth it."

So, all the huffing and puffing about NATO refusing to fight Trump's war in Iran, is just cover, so Trump the Conqueror can blame NATO when he pulls the US out.

The US attacking Turkey would put NATO in a bind. Holding the US off would demand so many NATO resources, they may be vulnerable to Russian aggression.
