They are not really Artificial Intelligence, they are just very powerful search engines with a fantastic interface. They "believe" what they have read.

How does that account for hallucinations and errors in math?

I recently asked two AIs if California was having a low wildfire year. Both said no, the state is experiencing an above-normal and highly dangerous fire season. I corrected them and they "appreciated" it (but didn't change the answer as of this morning).

CalFire indicates that 2026 is below the five-year average in both number of fires and acreage.
