And that might work, but I wonder if Musk is now tired of politics? He got his ass whooped trying to buy a judge, and yes, he got a President (who is now attacking him left and right), so maybe it’s a game he doesn’t really want to drop a lot more coin in? He does lose interest in things, after all. Does he really care that much about “the deficit?”

He likes to win. He's got so much money the odd hundred million here or there doesn't even register. He could cause a lot of trouble for Trump without much effort. For example, by just giving senators cover to duck Trump on legislation Musk doesn't like, like the BBB. I'm sure there will be others. If you go up against Musk, he could drop a few million on your election opponent. Even the threat of that is probably enough.
