Israel is having an election in two months, on Oct 27. The views expressed in that article are shared to some degree by half of Israelis, if not more. According to polls the opposition is likely to get 60 seats (out of 120) in the next Knesset. Netanyahu and his coalition partners are likely to get 50, and two Arab lists will get about 10. This is likely the end of Netanyahu’s career. At least I hope so. The question is how quickly and thoroughly Israel can correct its course. It won’t be easy. The religious extremists and fascists are not going to surrender easily. But I have one last measure of hope.
