Public posturing in advance of the election.

In a lot of states, the GOP is frelled without independents voting their way.

from the net sifter:

Democratic Voters: Approximately 60% to 74% of Democrats sympathize more with Palestinians than Israelis and oppose providing additional economic and military support to Israel. Polls show that up to 66% of Democrats believe the U.S. is currently "too supportive" of Israel

Republican Voters: Conversely, about 70% of Republicans sympathize more with Israelis than Palestinians and continue to view the U.S.-Israel alliance favorably. However, there is a growing generational gap, with many younger Republicans favoring a reduction in taxpayer-funded military aid to prioritize domestic issues.

Independent Voters: Independents largely lean away from unconditional backing. Quinnipiac University polling indicates that 55% of independent voters feel the U.S. backs Israel too much, and most believe the U.S. should remain neutral in the conflict.

Heck, the entire "conversation" could be as fake as Trump's constant declarations of "winning", and "peace is at hand".
