The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

a much more surgical means of election rigging is enabled.

The net sifter is a wonderful thing:

As of May 2026, Republicans control 57 legislative chambers and 28 state legislatures. While specific, finalized counts for Democrat-held seats within Republican-gerrymandered states following the latest election cycles require cross-referencing, in the 2024 election, Democrats held 29 seats in states where Republicans controlled the redistricting process (such as Texas, Florida, and Georgia)

State Control: Republicans hold a majority in 28 states, while 23 states have Republican trifectas (governor and legislature).

Congressional Control: Republicans maintain a narrow, 220–215 majority in the House of Representatives as of December 2024, partly aided by favorable district maps in states like Texas and Florida.

Impact of Redistricting: Republican legislatures in states like Texas and Florida have historically used their map-drawing power to create safe Republican seats, limiting the number of Democrat-held seats in those states to 29 in 2024

How about Republican held seats in states where a Dem majority controls redistricting?

As of May 2026, there are approximately 14 to 15 U.S. House seats held by Republicans in states where Democrats have a trifecta (control of the governorship and both legislative chambers) and directly control the redistricting process.

So, if every state that could, corrupted it's elections to the max, the GOP would pick up 14-15 seats in the House.
