It's very inaccurate to say he helped cause a world wide pandemic, because the evidence shows it's very highly likely that didn't happen. We'll never know for 100% certainty. But I don't think that happened.

I just take Christian Drosten's word for it that if he were going to try to engineer the virus the first thing would be to get rid of a very prominent part that's in the current virus. So he thinks it very unlikely. And using Occam's razor, the animal origin is the most likely.
