He plans to use the slot to deep dive into the nation's COVID activities, including getting to the bottom of the gain of function research that went bad:
Ahh, a real witch hunt. Ya see Dope, there's no evidence at all gain of function (GoF) went bad. After all this time, the evidence shows the source is still that market in Wuham, and the source was natural. Last I read they finally processed the samples from that area of the market and found mixed among the different animal traces covid. It you want to be accurate that's the best we have and it's lost forever. We'll never know to 99.9999% certainty.
So it's you basic witch hunt, used as a distraction whenever they need it.
This guy thought he was God, meddled with things through very questionable 3rd party agents, and helped cause a worldwide pandemic that killed millionsIt's very inaccurate to say he helped cause a world wide pandemic, because the evidence shows it's very highly likely that didn't happen. We'll never know for 100% certainty. But I don't think that happened.
Y'all just got your orders to attack Fauci and you follow orders.
SNIP And during a congressional hearing, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky implied that the National Institutes of Health had been funding such research at both the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Baric’s University of North Carolina lab, and that the two labs had been collaborating to make “superviruses.”
Baric released a statement clarifying that
according to the NIH, the research in question did not qualify as gain-of-function, none of the SARS-like coronaviruses he’d used in the experiments were closely related to SARS-CoV-2 (the original virus behind the covid pandemic), and his collaboration with the Wuhan Institute of Virology had been minimal. I just take Christian Drosten's word for it that if he were going to try to engineer the virus the first thing would be to get rid of a very prominent part that's in the current virus. So he thinks it very unlikely. And using Occam's razor, the animal origin is the most likely.
But it doesn't make for titillating stories that create conspiracy theories and allow one to demonize a scientific civil servant who has devoted his life to helping us all out. And it looks like that happened to distract from Trump's gross incompetency. Trump lied to you - is that hard to believe?
