The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Interesting article thanks for posting.

A few standout lines for me:
"We are going to run the country until such time as we can see a proper and judicious transition.
We can’t take a chance that someone else takes over Venezuela who doesn’t have the good of the Venezuelan people in mind." ~Trump

Trump added that U.S. forces intend to remain in Venezuela until a transition is secured and warned that further military action remains an option.
"We’re there now and we’re going to stay until such time as a proper transition can take place. We are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so.
We’re not afraid of boots on the ground, he said. He later clarified that the U.S. will have a "presence in Venezuela as it pertains to oil."

"We’re going to be taking out a tremendous amount of wealth out of the ground, and that wealth is going to the people of Venezuela and people from outside of Venezuela that used to be in Venezuela,
and it goes also to the United States in the form of reimbursement for the damages caused us by that country." ~Trump

U.S. Rep Gregory Meeks, the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said,
"Let’s be clear. Nicolás Maduro is an illegitimate leader. But using the U.S. military to attempt regime change in a sovereign foreign nation, without approval from Congress,
without a defined objective or plan for the day after, and without support from our allies, risks entangling the United States in an open-ended conflict in Venezuela that could
destabilize the entire region. This action is also a violation of international law and further undermines America’s global standing."
