Did you have a contract lawyer write an MSA for ip concerns, or not an issue in your field?
I am in a subspecialty of software development and working on my rate card. I don't intend on doing it forever, so I was aiming lower than that multiple. That being said, I was at a "known" company and already on the premium end of comp. I'm also trying - for strategic reasons - to focus on advisory or founding assistance for startups, so the rate decisions is interesting.
I was going to offer retainer (several days a month, with some SLA), agreed on staff augmentation on strategic work (time/scope TBD), and then just gap/strategic assessments (prix fixe).
