The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

President Donald Trump last night told reporters that he didn’t sign the proclamation that set that legal process in motion. ... Other people handled it,” he said. “But Marco Rubio’s done a great job. And he wanted them out, and we go along with that.

What I find most ludicrous about this is that the White House later "explained" this by saying that Trump clearly meant that he didn't sign the original 1798 Alien Enemies Act! But it's quite obvious to even the dimmest of the dim (*) that Trump was talking about the EO, and not the original act. What a clown show we have running the country...into the ground.

from cnn.com - Trump signature alien enemies act proclamation

Hours after the president made his comments on Friday, the White House claimed that Trump was not talking about whether he signed the document last week despite Trump responding to a reporter asking about the judge wanting “to know why the proclamation was signed in the dark, his words, and why people were rushed onto planes.”

“President Trump was obviously referring to the original Alien Enemies Act that was signed back in 1798,” White House communications director Steven Cheung said in the statement. “The recent Executive Order was personally signed by President Trump invoking the Alien Enemies Act that designated Tren de Aragua as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in order to apprehend and deport these heinous criminals.”

(*) I'm afraid that "The Dimmest of the Dim" is what we've got instead of "The Best of the Best".
