I would like to point out that people who buy third-party coins (Trump, Franklin Mint, etc.) aren’t collectors, they’re marks.

When I was young, either g-pa or dad (forget which) would gift me with Franklin Mint stuff. "Christmas ingot" and such. It's been a few years since I checked, but they are basically worth the value of the metal (silver) within. Nothing more.
I should probably drag them out and see if I can dump them for metal value. If I can find them. Haven't seen them in years, but I know they are around somewhere.
I also have some uncirculated currency (Kennedy 1971(?) silver dollar, $2 bill with some commemorative card, maybe a few others). All gifted at some point. I'd be surprised if the silver dollar is worth more than a dollar, even if it is in a plastic case.
