This number is particularly important for Unite, because international students are not staying at home.
Also, they tend to opt for student flats rather than private letting arrangements.
Unite's total unreserved beds in the current year was about 3000-4000 beds.
So, thousands of extra students that will mostly be taking up PBSA at the last minute, can make quite a difference.
