Not so much the price of eggs but the liberals relentless, yet futile, attempt to explain to whiny consumers that actually you have it great, just look at these shiny statistics. And explain it with contempt as in, most of MAGA's lack the college education necessary to understand financial concepts like money.
Naah,there has ALWAYS been a distrust of back East, Washington, New York, The Ivy League school types. It goes way back. The Puritans and their descendants were always telling people what to do is the characterization. Virginia and West Virginia didn't agree as an example. So what your voicing is a well noted cultural divide. The distrust of the mountain folk for people in the flatlands blends into it. The resentment of the south blends into it. Lots more.

I don't think that was the determiner, it may have helped though. I think it was the price of eggs. I just didn't really have a good idea of how people were affected by the inflation.
