When DOGE destroyed USAID, they destroyed programs of lifesaving aid (medicine, food, expertise etc. etc.) to many African nations that have now turned to China for that assistance.

Of course, as a price for that aid, these countries are now signing away natural resources and land for future Chinese military bases.

“Soft power”- a totally foreign concept to these barbarians who think they are saving a few dollars.

We will all pay for their mistakes in blood and treasure in a decade or two.

Years later, I still cannot improve on Rex Tillerson's observation. Trump is a f-ing moron.

But now, instead of people like Tillerson around him, doing their best to constrain his base instincts, Trump is surrounded by equally moronic kiss a$$ lackies.

We are totally screwed. It was a nice ride while it lasted. Unfortunately, the Baby Boomers (of which I am, sadly, one) are wreaking their final havoc on the country, taking it down in selfish flames before they fade from the scene via the grim reaper.

Maybe our grand children can raise something up from these sad ashes.

****

Wow and China wasn't doing this for years leading up to this.

*And* I'm sure they aren't getting any natural resources. Only bully America would be demanding such things. China has gotta be doing it for no compensation or advantage. What are they, Evil Bully Greedy Americans?

Perhaps sooner?

I'm 76, so may not have to witness the fall of the US. But I feel for those who come after us.

Maybe it is not too late to reverse course? I never imagined that our country could be in the hands of an idiot demagogue like Trump.

Wow and China wasn't doing this for years leading up to this.

They were!

And several years ago, a reaction was building among countries that had signed away more than they bargained for when they signed onto Chinese loans, security arrangements and development projects- in Africa, Latin America and Asia. The United States was actually beginning to make inroads among dissaffected
Chinese client-states. And Anthony Blinken was doing a great job of organizing and promoting a soft power response that was beginning to win back friends and key relationships in multiple regions of the world.

That has all been swept away now.

Oh for Heavens Sake..China has been loaning Africa billions of dollars and Aid for YEARS,
it just didn’t happen recently.

SNIP
“Africa-China meet means business
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir arrives in Beijing
China is eager to cement cultural and economic ties with Africa
China has laid on the red carpet for dozens of African leaders as it hosts a summit to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations with the region.
But the background for the meeting is the rapidly expanding trade ties between Africa and China, worth $42bn (£22bn) last year.

China needs Africa's rich supplies of natural resources and raw materials to fuel its surging economy.

In return it invests in African roads, railways and other infrastructure.”

I never imagined that our country could be in the hands of an idiot demagogue like Trump.

I never imagined a plurality of American voters would turn the country over to an idiot demagogue- twice.

Or that our vaunted “guardrails” would be crushed like balsa wood.

At the end of the day, it comes down to us. It always did.

Which is exactly what I just said.

But I said more than that.

Apparently you missed it.

Luv the wailing, crying and moaning of President Trump.
Like I said, no need to go the MSM for the same nonsense, it’s all right here a the Policy Board.

Luv the wailing, crying and moaning of President Trump.

He does wail and moan a lot. He also blames everyone but himself when his impulsive plans go off the rails, as they do with regularity.

And he seems to have a MAGA crowd that would start touting the nutritional value of bull excrement if Trump ordered everyone to eat s$&t sndwiches.

(with apologies to albaby and others) you hit upon the fundamental problem in convincing gop voters regarding anything, especially if trump related.

a. voting him in twice, and claiming his every hire\advisor\policy is genius, means the majority are simply unable to learn anything.

b. for the small group finally able to learn and correctly attribute (almost entirely due to personal impact, not societal), the damage is done and its too late. they just want personal sympathy or a bailout, so what's the point.
