It's a popular view.
A dissenter might espouse the following alternative view: Google's AI overviews are really good, and they also do a fine job with deep follow up questions. Not the best AI in the world perhaps, but good enough for 95% of use cases when searching for answers to questions. Google search counts are rising, not falling, up maybe 12-13% in the last year.
So that question has already been settled while folks were arguing about it--Google won.
