If we had speedy trials back in 2021 he would be in a prison cell today. So maybe he's not wrong, just late.

If we had speedy trials "like China", Trump would already be lying in a grave, minus vital organs (if medical science still wanted them).

So... it's a case of "Be careful what you ask for".

But now that Trump is quickly consolidating power as a dictator, he doesn't have much to worry about..... unless, of course, what happens to most dictators happens to him. (for contemporary example, see today's news about Bolsonaro)

I'm sure that haunting possibility keeps him awake at night. And so he's already caught in the dictator's dilemna..... increasing repression of the population to protect himself, which in turn increases the unrest among the population, which in turn increases the repression.

In the end, the person most responsible for Trump's eventual arrest and trial may well be Stephen Miller. Miller does seem to be goading the president into hurrying the process along a bit faster.
