The New York Times documented violent counterprotesters attacking students on Tuesday in the pro-Palestinian encampment at UCLA for several hours, including beating them with sticks, using chemical sprays and launching fireworks as weapons, as security personnel hired by the university stood by and did nothing throughout the incident. Those aren't "counterprotesters," they're a violent mob.
No matter how the protesters are viewed and as long as they're remaining peaceful, there's nothing patriotic about "beating them with sticks, using chemical sprays and launching fireworks as weapons" against them.
Sorry, no matter how much you disagree with their beliefs, that ain't patriotism.
