That's just another article based on the same paper. I guess that paper caught someone's eye and so every market author at different magazines wrote the same articles in their own words.

Takeaway: Don't do long/short momentum. The "momentum crash" is the short side getting crushed on the rise off the bottoms.

I am happy with the current approach that we've been evaluating.
Invest in the high momentum stocks and use SMA timing to sit out the bad periods. You don't need to capture the initial rise off the bottom -- although it would be nice. You don't need to lay your neck out on the chopping block by shorting. You don't need to stretch for a few extra percentage points on an already high-profit strategy by taking on extra risk.
