I think Warren wants the family control of BRK's culture and voting control to continue as long as possible. Devoting what shares he has remaining when he passes to his children's control - whereby ending the Gates Foundation contributions - is the surest way to do do. No further dilution.

100% agree. I believe Warren's thinking has evolved with respect to Berkshire's future after him. He doesn't want Berkshire's voting control to be in the hands of index fund CEOS like Fink after he is gone. This is the surest way to ensure that doesn't happen.
