The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

OK, for starters, here is the direct quote:

“As of today, there is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone, in any war zone around the world, for the first time this century.”

PolitiFact (see link below) gives this a rating of Mostly False which I guess is kind of like being mostly dead (e.g. Princess Bride for you slackers). Bad, but not as bad as the False and Pants on Fire ratings Trump usually gets.

But it’s wrong, or at the very least, misleading. See the PolitiFact link for the details.

So Harris said something wrong and shame on her (and her staff) for not fact checking this first. And can you see, even though I agree she stated something incorrectly, my hair isn’t on fire and I still like Harris.

But here’s the real test to see if she’s a liar (besides the lack of a Pants on Fire rating).

Will Harris stop repeating this Mostly False statement or modify it to be correct? Or will she be like Trump and keep repeating the statement over and over and over and over and ………

What happens after you’ve been corrected making a mistake? That’s the difference between a mistake and a lie.

Also, you might want to think about if there is a difference between people who tell one lie and people who tell thousands of lies. You know, especially like lies that result in people being threatened or killed.

Just saying.
