I worked at NSA for my last 14 years of my 35 year FoD arc. A good bit of that was in cybersecurity.
In addition to these steps, I would strongly consider:
1. Freeze your credit. It can be an annoyance to undo on the generally infrequent occasions you need to do a check but that’s the price of security.
2. Have bank accounts/cash in two banks. You might not get personally targeted but banks get attacked, go offline, have any number of calamities. If that happens you have plan B.
3. Use an authenticator fob like a yubikey or a software one like verisign VIP. Two factor is pretty good, via SNS, but this is much better.
4. Do not reuse passwords.
