Oh, it's been known for years that the Chinese have been making determined efforts to break into US systems and steal whatever info they can find. The way they accomplish this is through a web of systems at Chinese Universities and other 'private' locales so they could maintain a level of deniability.
Welp...back in December they started openly talking about it:
https://www.wsj.com/politics/national-security/in-...In Secret Meeting, China Acknowledged Role in U.S. Infrastructure Hacks
A senior Chinese official linked intrusions to escalating U.S. support for TaiwanHmm. Okay. Lots of FAFO potential there.
WASHINGTON—Chinese officials acknowledged in a secret December meeting that Beijing was behind a widespread series of alarming cyberattacks on U.S. infrastructure, according to people familiar with the matter, underscoring how hostilities between the two superpowers are continuing to escalate.
The Chinese delegation linked years of intrusions into computer networks at U.S. ports, water utilities, airports and other targets, to increasing U.S. policy support for Taiwan, the people, who declined to be named, said.
The first-of-its-kind signal at a Geneva summit with the outgoing Biden administration startled American officials used to hearing their Chinese counterparts blame the campaign, which security researchers have dubbed Volt Typhoon, on a criminal outfit, or accuse the U.S. of having an overactive imagination. Gotcha. No more Panda face/Dragon face, eh?
During the half-day meeting in Geneva, Wang Lei, a top cyber official with China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicated that the infrastructure hacks resulted from the U.S.’s military backing of Taiwan, an island Beijing claims as its own, according to current and former U.S. officials familiar with the conversation.

Well, gee, then maybe Mad King Donald shouldn't have fired Gen. Timothy Haugh, who led both Cyber Command, which carries out offensive cyber operations, and the National Security Agency, which collects cyber threat intelligence or be making massive cuts to cyber personnel, dontchathink?
Also, there’s no national cyber director or Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency director in place, and oversight of cybersecurity on the National Security Council has been downgraded to a senior director position from a deputy national security advisor under the Biden administration.
But Mad King Donald won some senior golf tournament or something, so there's that.

Absolutely.
That’s why I think it made perfect sense to elect a president who would crash the stock market, impose inflationary world-wide tariffs, place wholly incompetent individuals in key positions, and take an economy that was the envy of the world and drive it into a recession or depression.
If that doesn’t teach the Chinese a lesson, nothing will.

And that's not good.
Do you feel the same way about the ways that Russia is similarly attacking us? Or is that OK because Putin is Trump's buddy?

Blue State China can hack away.

Not a peep from Club 401K because for Club 401K - it's about personal stuff.
"PUTIN!!!!!!"
Club 401K Liberals discriminate at home, and abroad both.
They are consistent and they have been all thru human history when they showed up on earth and told the human race "up yours" and proceeded to rape and colonize everyone.

It was back in nineteen forty-two,
I was a member of a good platoon.
We were on maneuvers in-a Louisiana,
One night by the light of the moon.
The captain told us to ford a river,
That's how it all begun.
We were -- knee deep in the Big Muddy,
But the big fool said to push on.
The Sergeant said, "Sir, are you sure,
This is the best way back to the base?"
"Sergeant, go on! I forded this river
'Bout a mile above this place.
It'll be a little soggy but just keep slogging.
We'll soon be on dry ground."
We were, waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool said to push on.
The Sergeant said, "Sir, with all this equipment
No man will be able to swim."
"Sergeant, don't be a Nervous Nellie, "
The Captain said to him.
"All we need is a little determination;
Men, follow me, I'll lead on."
We were, neck deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool said to push on.
All at once, the moon clouded over,
We heard a gurgling cry.
A few seconds later, the captain's helmet
Was all that floated by.
The Sergeant said, "Turn around men!
I'm in charge from now on."
And we just made it out of the Big Muddy
With the captain dead and gone.
We stripped and dived and found his body
Stuck in the old quicksand.
I guess he didn't know that the water was deeper
Than the place he'd once before been.
Another stream had joined the Big Muddy
'Bout a half mile from where we'd gone.
We were lucky to escape from the Big Muddy
When the big fool said to push on.
Well, I'm not going to point any moral,
I'll leave that for yourself
Maybe you're still walking, you're still talking
You'd like to keep your health.
But every time I read the papers
That old feeling comes on;
We're, waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool says to push on.
Waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool says to push on.
Waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool says to push on.
Waist deep! Neck deep! Soon even a
Tall man'll be over his head, we're
Waist deep in the Big Muddy!
And the big fool says to push on!

Yes, we set up some of the northern Philippine islands and coordinated with Japan, etc., so we can cover the backside of Taiwan should hostilities break out. Singapore has scaled down its military exercises in Taiwan.
China doesn't want to cross swords with the US on Taiwan and neither do we, thus the strategic ambiguity.

Good. Then it's time to do something.
Agree. But I would prefer that “something” to be something that doesn’t destroy the U.S. economy in the process.
This is where it would be helpful to have an intelligent and knowledgeable person in charge who surrounds themselves with intelligent and knowledgeable experts as opposed to the current ignoramus who surrounds himself with idiotic sycophants.
The clowns belong in a circus, not running the most powerful country in the world.
Americans chose poorly. We are, and will continue to, pay the price with our lives, our reputation, our security, and our wallets. There’s no quick fix for that.

many on the US Policy board seem to be active investors with some basic grasp of economics.
because of this, and in-your-face weekday market moves, it is thought that the MAGA grand strategy for economics is the most dangerous and worst executed.
let me reality-monger you into considering it is likely not.
what is unfolding in the intelligence, defense, and law enforcement trifecta is far worse, and will eventually make its way into american economics.the last remaining pillar will be the candidate running clandestine services, and room for MAGA has been made.
https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/02/cia-drops...take one small defense scenario snippet:
by abandoning ukraine and advising all to front their own defense, the gop and their wanna-be peace prizer has exponentially increased the chance of nuclear conflict.
very few nations can build out their own conventional forces and reliable supply chain, even with partners, in less than 1-2 decades. thus, they have learned from N.Korea , and Ukraine, that the only viable stick will be short-mid range nuclear weapons.
this path is even being pursued by additional NATO nations...can they ever rule out military and intelligence alliances between america and any authoritarian nation based on the quality of american voters? no.

Firing General Haugh and Wendy Noble was absurd. If you don't believe me (and I was a *very* hard grader of my leaders in my NSA arc, that spanned four different 4-star Directors), well, then take it from former Deputy Director Rick Ledgett. Who I know, worked for twice, and is hardly some partisan hack.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPzyXF51Kd8This was self-inflicted stupidity. There's not a single valid, evidence- or performance-based reason for this to have happened.
"BuT hE CaN fIRe anY GENerAL hE WAntS"...yes, we know. Doesn't mean it isn't Stupid. As. Hell. He just made America weaker.
