As to slowing the spread of covid and decreasing its impact one need only compare US deaths per million vs Japan's, ~3500 vs 550.
A great deal was possible and achievable but for the misinformation campaign in this country, which apparently persists to this day.

So true...

And, "Excess mortality was significantly higher for Republican voters than Democratic voters after COVID-19 vaccines were available to all adults."
