The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

beginning to think you might have something to hide with all your Elon protesting.
Still collecting on your 120 year old grandmothers SS check? 😉

Elon announced that story with a huge fanfare. It was quickly proven that Elon and his young band of merry wreckers fidn’t have a clue how Social Security worked.

There were no checks being sent out to 120 year olds. That story is false, like so many of the stories you repeat.

Why people continue to trust news sources and politicians who lie more than they tell tge truth is beyond me.

Perhaps it’s that tingly feeling they get when they bite into those juicy nothingburgers.

Don’t get me wrong. Somene, somewhere—— perhaps even a number of someones- have managed to defraud Social Security. That’s what happens when almot 50 million people a month receive SS payments.

Fraud happens. But Social Security has been very good at catching it and prosecuting the fraudsters.

True story that goes to the heart of the issue:

Seven years ago, my wife’s first husband died of Parkinson’s. Three weeks later, she went in to the local SOCIAL Security office to report his death.

“Thank you,” they said, “but we already know.”

They already knew. Get that? They’d already made the adjustment to their records.

The idea that there were hundreds of thousands of people 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, and 160 years old still receiving SS checks is ludicrous.

Elon and Trump continue to repeat that lie. What does that make them? Now that their lie has been exposed, debunked and proven to be hokum?
