I have no idea how to fix this problem. One thing is for sure, the State and the city of TC will not throw money at the problem. That's for sure. I just looked at John James' campaign site. Like every other GOP candidate, he is embracing repealing the income tax. And, of course, mumbles in generalities about how the lost revenue will be made up. That tax revenue is some $11B/year. For those not in Michigan, the state has a flat rate income tax. Of course, the people with the highest income, will realize the most money from not paying income tax.
Engler, the Gov who closed the mental hospitals in 97, enacted 31 tax cuts.

The property tax cut proposal was delivered formally by state Treasurer Doug Roberts to the House Taxation Committee. The plan would cut 20 percent of the school operating portion of property taxes and make up the loss to school districts with other state money to be identified later.Lansing always plays a shell game: publicizing a tax cut, but where the lost revenue is made up, is always a deep, dark, secret.
