I always liked that Alphabet would argue in court that competition is just a click away. Because it is! You're free to click over to Bing, DuckDuckGo, whatever.
Google isn't like BNSF. If you need to move coal in Montana you're stuck with BNSF.
Google isn't like MidAmerican either. If you need electric service in Des Moines, Iowa you're stuck with MidAmerican.
The people choosing Google choose it because it does what they want.
And Google might not even be how Alphabet makes most of their money in the future. Cloud might someday overtake it, even with worse margins.
