The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Is there a retirement board that is just about retirement?

My last day of work was the end of January. I had planned on taking a job that was starting in April but turned it down. I recently interviewed for a job a few weeks ago and they are checking some things out. The biggest issue I see with companies is the lack of interest in someone working part time. Fortunately I don't think I need to work any more. Since I am going to be in the area for a while longer I figured I might work some since I do like the thinking aspect of work.

As far as retirement goes it still hasn't really hit me. We've been doing more local day or overnight trips. Would like to do a Europe trip but definitely not in the summer. Also now that my foot injury seems ok, I've been dealing with lower back pain and am hoping that clears up since sitting in a plane seat for hours isn't good for it.

Trying to exercise more, depending on the back issue. We also need to find a retirement home. I've been delaying that for a variety of reasons, most I won't go into here but honestly after moving into 4 houses/apts in 3 years and moving cross country twice in 3 years and dealing with a parent's death, the thought of moving again just seems painful to me although once I do it, I'll probably be happy.

Been following baseball more now that the Orioles are competitive. A lot of trips I wouldn't mind doing but doing so during the crowded summer season does not appeal to me at all.
