The cries of “commie” have been around since the 15th Amendment was passed in 1870, giving blacks the right to vote. Former slave owners claimed that the blacks would vote for the government to use tax money to build roads, schools, and hospitals, and that was communism. Some things in Amerikkka never change.
Actually, according to HCR, the cry by ex-Confederates in the 1870’s was against “socialists”- anyone who suggested schools, roads or any other service should be publicly funded.
They’re still at it, though since Marx and Engels hit the scene, they added “commie”.
