The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Not quite. Gotta have the contrition, Hail Marys, etc BEFORE forgiveness. Spankee is Hellbound.

We have cafeteria Christianity in Shinyland: embrace the parts you like, and ignore the parts you don't like.

The "news" showed Vance, again, lecturing the Pope.

What does it take for someone to be excommunicated from the Catholic church?

from the net sifter:

Excommunication from the Catholic Church is a severe penalty usually incurred automatically (latae sententiae) for grave offenses, including apostasy, heresy, schism, desecration of the Eucharist, procuring an abortion, or physical attack on the Pope. It requires full knowledge and deliberate consent, resulting in immediate separation from sacramental life.

Automatic (Latae Sententiae) Excommunication Actions

According to the 1983 Code of Canon Law and updates, these actions automatically incur excommunication:

Apostasy, Heresy, or Schism: Totally rejecting the Christian faith, obstinately denying Catholic doctrine, or rejecting papal authority.

Vance having the nerve to lecture the Pope on theology, might do the trick.

'Be careful.' Vance issues warning to Pope Leo when discussing theology

“When the Pope says that God is never on the side of people who wield the sword, there is more than a 1,000-year tradition of just war theory,” Vance continued. “We can, of course, have disagreements about whether this or that conflict is just.”

"If you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to be sure it's anchored in the truth and that's one of the things that I try to do and that's certainly something I would expect from the clergy," Vance added.

Of course, the regime wants to make Shinyland a Protestant, fundy, whack, theocracy, so the more war it can stir up with the Catholic church, may benefit it's agenda.
