XOM updated its Global Outlook last week. They've also put a lot of effort into making it more readable. The Introduction is a 4 minute read, and has six subsections where you can drill down on specific areas of interest. It's written to be educational - and backed by easy to follow graphs and data tables.
https://corporate.exxonmobil.com/sustainability-an...This is the same study that Exxon uses as the planning base for running their businesses over upcoming multiple decades. As they state:
"The projections at the heart of the Global Outlook represent our most likely view of the world in 2050. It is scientifically grounded, based on our detailed analysis of a variety of data sources and long-term assessments of market fundamentals, economic trends, technology advancements, consumer behavior and climate-related public policy. It is not an endorsement of a particular outcome, nor is it advocating for what ExxonMobil hopes will happen."They're willing to invest circa $25-30 billion a year based on these projections. It's a serious bit of work. They spell out their reasoning so you can agree or disagree.
One new feature is that they've also compared 2024 actual with what they projected 10 years earlier.
There's too much to summarize. But if you're interested in a macro view of the world economic outlook for the next 25 years,I believe it's worth some time to read. All investments will be impacted by this outlook, not just XOM.
