when the trump tariff failure began in 2025, there was a huge (and ongoing) boom in competent logistics brokers (e.g., expd).
but it was obvious to anyone in the sector that trump\gop had done nothing to bolster inspection and enforcement.
due to weekly changes based on personal bribes to trump during 1-on-1 'negotiations', unsure how effective added infrastructure would have been anyway. there was barely time to receive changes, much less embed them into the complex customs & trade software.
the end result was that a significant amount of trade continued via omitting\ignoring paperwork. i.e., smuggling.
this did not prevent end-consumer price raises...profit is profit.
